Games Workshop is gradually changing the names of its stores to ‘Warhammer’, because that’s what they sell, isn’t it? The old name has confused people over the years, because people thought it was a videogame store (so, the miniatures in the window didn’t give it away then?). But, let’s be honest, the new name is better. The new Warhammer stores do not only have a new name, they look different too. The light is brighter, and they look somewhat more inviting to anxious new players. If you still have no clue what we’re talking about: Warhammer and its futuristic counterpart Warhammer 40.000 are miniature wargames. Both players take control of an army (consisting of several miniatures) and battle each other to death. Shooting arrows, throwing rocks, casting spells, it’s all done by rolling some dice. They sell the miniatures unpainted, so you have to paint them yourself (with the paint they also have in store). Furthermore, they have sculpting tools, army books and even some novels that take place in one of the two universes. Their staff is always very helpful and they even help you paint your goblins and hippogriffs. Their stores are all pretty much the same, so don’t expect stuff you haven’t seen before if you’re a frequent visitor of your local Games Workshop or ‘Warhammer’.
