Geek Exhibits you don’t want to miss

Looking for a great geeky museum to go to? We’ve compiled a couple of the most excellent temporary exhibitions currently on in Western Europe. So start planning that trip!

Robots in London
The Science Museum in London recently did a crowdfunding action to rebuild Eric, the UK’s first robot, and we were very pleased to contribute to that. We’ve already seen Eric back in action last year (check out our Twitter and FB feeds for that) but now he;s surrounded by all sorts of robotic friends. Spanning from the 1500’s until now, this is an amazing opportunity to see the history of the robot in full. The museum also shows some classic robot movies and there are all sorts of special events, so go and see it – until the 3rd or september.

Screensavers in Rotterdam
This is without a doubt one of the weirdest subjects for an exhibition, but we’re intrigued. Artist Rafael Rozendaal has made an ode to the screensaver in ‘Het nieuwe Instituut’ in Rotterdam (the Netherlands). You can see examples of early screensavers, from the time that they actually prevented your screen from burning in, but there are also some newer versions on display. Go see it tuesday-sunday until the 25th of June.

Harry Potter in Utrecht
Also in the Netherlands, in the (very geeky) city of Utrecht, you can see the official Harry Potter exhibit. This traveling exhibition has visited a lot of countries and cities already but for everyone in or near the Netherlands who hasn’t seen it yet (or wants to go again), here’s your chance. Make sure to buy tickets beforehand, though, as it’ll most likely be very busy.
