Comic wall (Suske en Wiske)

The gorgeous comic walls are a perfect picture opportunity for fans of the many comic heroes of Antwerp. What is ‘the’ comic capital of western Europe? While the Walloons insist it’s Brussels (mostly because of Tin Tin), the Flemish are pretty sure it’s Antwerp, birthplace of comic giants like Willy Vandersteen and Merho. On traveling for Geeks you’ll find the four most famous ones, but in total there are ten. Visit the website for more info and the route of the walk!

This painting is from the cover of the Suske en Wiske (Spike and Suzy) album ‘Het Eiland Amoras’ by Willy Vandersteen. It’s the second and most famous album, where Wiske meets Suske for the first time on the far away and medieval island Amoras. The ghost is Sus Antigoon, the spirit of a deceased ancestor of Suske, who is only visible when he drinks beer. It doesn’t get more Flemish than that!
